Overview
The Degree Course in Civil Engineering is aimed at acquiring the most up-to-date technical-professional skills required by the job market in the construction sector, civil networks and infrastructures, and civil settlements in the territory.
The programme is organised in three curricula (Infrastructures and Civil Structures, Construction, Territorial Protection), through which students will be guided in the development of studies, plans, programmes and projects concerning hydraulic, geotechnical, structural and transport engineering; in the learning of methods and technologies for the redevelopment of cities; in the planning and implementation of interventions for the protection of natural resources and for the mitigation of hydrogeological risk.
The training is completed by activities carried out at and/or in cooperation with companies, businesses and public bodies of local, national and international relevance, with which the Department of Engineering has stable and long-term cooperative relationships, thus favoring insertion in the world of work.
Career Opportunity
Training objectives are the acquisition and application of the most adequate and current knowledge concerning the methods and models for planning, design, management and maintenance of buildings, networks and infrastructures of civil engineering, such as buildings, large buildings and plants, bridges and viaducts, hydraulic and transport networks for the application of new technologies and innovative methods aimed at the redevelopment, conversion and eco-sustainable adaptation of private and public constructions and urban sites; for spatial planning, sustainable management of natural resources, prevention and mitigation of damage from landslides and floods, through structural and non-structural interventions.
Graduates will have access to management roles in engineering companies, public administrations, manufacturing or service companies, with tasks related to the production/realization, management and maintenance, innovation and development, as well as research.
Graduates will thoroughly understand the theoretical aspects of Civil Engineering, according to a multidisciplinary, sustainable and resilient approach to problem solving.
They will also be able to identify the optimal design solutions, also taking into account the practical aspects and needs of the market with reference to the construction and maintenance of constructions, also for the purpose of a correct management of their life cycle with a view to safety and a more general sustainable development.
The deep preparation and the multidisciplinary approach to problem solving provide graduates with the ideal conditions for a successful placement on the job market.
